Introduction

The Department of Orthodontics at the college is renowned and one of the best in the field of Orthodontics. It was the first Department of its specialization to be set up in a private institution in Bangalore and one of the initial-few to be set up in Karnataka. It is a premier unit delivering constantly on its promise of producing skilled clinicians every year.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES

The orthodontic department focuses on addressing various types of malocclusions, including early intervention in developing malocclusions and implementing corrective measures for established malocclusions. Objective is to improve the patient’s oral health, functionality, and appearance, creating a balanced occulusion and reducing long-term dental issues

History of BDS and MDS Curriculum

The Department was founded in the year 1992. It has, since, moulded over 25 batches of post-graduate students and trained several hundreds of undergraduate students into proficient clinicians and empathetic doctors.
The course curriculum outlined by the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences is covered exhaustively. All undergraduate and postgraduate students face adequate clinical exposure and have the opportunity to treat patients with malocclusions ranging over a large spectrum. The postgraduate students are provided with all kinds of treatment techniques. Students are provided with materials of the most reputed brands allowing them to learn with the very best. A strict and thorough sterilization protocol is followed to ensure hygiene, which is most important in healthcare.

About Orthodontics & Dento Facial Orthopedics

Orthodontics is a dental specialty focused on the growth and development of dentition and dentofacial structures, addressing dental irregularities and misaligned bite patterns.
It involves preventive and corrective procedures to reposition teeth and establish normal occlusion and facial contours.
The department specializes in diagnosing, preventing, managing, and correcting malpositioned teeth, jaws, and bite patterns, including dentofacial orthopedics for children in their growth period.
Treatment options include myofunctional procedures, palatal expansion, fixed appliances, and jaw surgery. Braces options include metal, ceramic, self-ligating, and clear aligners, while retainers are available in both removable and fixed forms.
The department offers excellent training for undergraduate and postgraduate students, with a strong patient inflow and high-quality patient care.
