Departmental achievements

“The Department of Prosthodontics has garnered significant recognition for its diverse contributions in the field of dental care. The department is particularly noted for its research endeavors, which have advanced the understanding and application of prosthodontic techniques. One of its standout services is full mouth rehabilitation, where dental implants are utilized to restore both function and aesthetics in patients with severe dental loss or damage. This comprehensive approach helps patients regain a natural appearance and enhanced oral function, improving their overall quality of life.
In addition to clinical services, the department also offers aesthetic courses, designed to educate and train dental professionals on advanced techniques in cosmetic dentistry. These courses cover a wide range of topics, from smile design to the latest trends in restorative dental procedures, helping practitioners stay at the forefront of modern prosthodontics.
The department is also dedicated to outreach and community service. Through programs such as ‘Dhanta Bhagya’ at K C General Hospital, the department provides dental care to underserved populations, offering them access to essential treatments that may otherwise be out of reach. These outreach efforts are further supported by similar initiatives at the department level, where prosthodontic care is extended to those in need.
Furthermore, the department plays a key role in providing specialized maxillofacial prosthetics, including prosthetic solutions for patients suffering from mucormycosis, a condition that often leads to disfigurement following invasive infections. The department’s work with these patients involves creating custom prosthetics that restore both appearance and function, which is crucial for their rehabilitation. In addition to mucormycosis patients, the department also caters to individuals requiring various maxillofacial prostheses, addressing complex needs with care and precision.”

The post graduate students have received many awards for best presentations in conferences over the last few academic years.
