Social Responsibilities and Extension Activities

  • Institutional social responsibility activities in the neighbourhood community in terms of education, environmental issues like Swachh Bharath, health and hygiene awareness and socio-economic development issues carried out by the students and staff during the last five years.
  • Social responsibilities are the integral part of MR Ambedkar Dental College and Hospital since its inception.
  • The institution has adopted Spastic society from past 15 years and all the basic treatment is provided to differently abled children in the center where we have installed a dental unit and we are providing basic treatment and complicated treatments are referred to our hospital.
  • We have two rural centers along with B. R. Ambedkar Medical College unit. First one is Halasuru, Kanakpura taluk 80kms from our institution. Secondly, one more center is in Kodige Halli, Bangalore which is around 25kms from our institution where students are posted.
  • A team from M R Ambedkar Dental College and Hospital has been visiting the dental wing of RK Math, Ulsoor from 22/03/2021 to till date. During the visit, patients are screened and basic treatment like scaling, restorations and extractions are provided.
  • Cases which require complex treatment facilities are given referral to the college. Oral health awareness is carried out in Halsuru which covers 5-6 villages in co-ordination with primary health centers. Our interns are posted in the rural health center where we have the facilities to reside and provide basic treatment and also carry out the health education activities by visiting villages, interacting with the population and making them aware about the importance of oral health and providing treatment with regard to any emergencies. Not only about the oral health, the general health is also being monitored and appropriate information is provided and referred to nearby PHC, CHC for further treatments. From our center 5-6kms away there are 3 tribal areas where we conduct camps to provide basic screening and also treatment.
  • Dental unit at Kodeghehalli was set in October 2018 in order to extend dental health facility to the rural population. Basic treatments like restorations, extraction and scalling. (oral prophylaxis) are done here. The team of dentist and interns are posted to the center every Thursday to examine the oral cavity of pregnant ladies and general public.
  • Oral health education is also given for the benefit of patients.
  • The institution has been organizing camps along with organizations like rotary club, lion club, trinity care foundation, Theresa Rural and Urban empowerment society.
    The camps have been conducted in various schools, orphanages, BMTC and KSRTC bus stand (Kanakapura, Bangalore).
  • Tobacco cessation center established in college gives counselling to almost 4-5 tobacco users daily and camp and rallies are conducted every year on World No Tobacco Day.
    As a mark of International Women’s Day celebration, on 23 rd march 2021 dental health checkup was conducted at Shradhanjali Integrated School, Lingarajapuram, where oral hygiene aids and sanitary napkins were distributed to the caregivers.
  • The institution contributed to Swachh Bharath by carrying out activities that were in accordance to guidelines of government Swachh Bharat summer internship program 2017. Ten students were posted to the Rural Health training center, Halasu.
