Department of Public Health Dentistry

The department of public health dentistry aims to provide preventive, promotive, and curative services at affordable and accessible oral health care to improve the oral health status of the community, especially for the needy population. In order to achieve this goal, the department is equipped with state-of-the-art infrastructure in terms of teaching, learning, and practice of dental public health. The department has well-experienced faculty members who are at par with national and international standards to train both graduate and post-graduate students. The satellite centre’s and mobile dental unit are the core part of the departmental infrastructure which facilitates the outreach programs and real-life experience of dealing with patients and improving the communicating skills of the students. Additionally, the department has a tobacco cessation center and also collaborated with government and non-government programs like Dantha-bhagya, Employee State Insurance Scheme (ESI) and so on which helps students to learn team-building, problem- solving, and decision-making skills. The faculties are involved in research and have published papers in national and international journals. Overall, the department is a dream destination for students to equip themselves with knowledge and skill in public health dentistry.
