Dr. Umashankar G.K. is a man of many hats and talents, excelling as an academician, researcher, clinician, and administrator. Currently, he serves as the Medical Superintendent at M.R. Ambedkar Dental College and Hospital in Bangalore. In Addition to his MDS in Public health he has certifications in Health Care Risk Management from the Asian Society for Quality in Health Care (ASQUA) and an Executive Program in Health Care Management from the prestigious Indian Institute of Management, Shillong. With over 20 years of teaching experience under his belt, Dr. Umashankar has had the privilege of training both undergraduate and postgraduate students. His dedication to research is evident from his extensive list of publications in national and international journals. Notably, he has led two funded research projects, one from the Indian Council for Social Science Research (ICSSR) in New Delhi and another from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) in Bengaluru. His expertise in academic presentations has been recognized internationally, earning him accolades for best paper and poster presentations. His role as an administrator is equally impressive he is serving as an NSS Programme Officer, overseen the Employee State Insurance (ESI) Program, and actively participated as a member of the Board of Studies at RGUHS. In addition to his academic and administrative prowess, Dr. Umashankar is deeply involved with several professional bodies. He is a member of the Indian Association of Public Health Dentistry (IAPHD) and the Consortium of Accredited Health Organizations (CAHO), and he serves as an assessor for the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals (NABH) for Dental Health Service Providers.
