The Department of Orthodontics at the college is renowned and is one of the best in the field of Orthodontics. It was the first Department of its specialization to be set up in a private institution in Bangalore and one of the initial-few to be set up in Karnataka. It is a premier unit delivering constantly on its promise of producing skilled clinicians every year.

The Department is headed by Dr. Rabindra S. Nayak, who has been with the Department since the beginning of his academic career, amounting to a period over 30 yearstill date. He is a recipient of the A.V. Arun Outstanding Professor Award for the year 2021, conferred by the Indian Orthodontic Society. The Department has an experienced facultywho are extremely approachable and knowledgeable. Each member of the faculty is well- experienced and actively participates in courses, workshops and seminars conducted on the latest concepts and ideas. Many of the staff members have been with the Department for a minimum of 15 years, making them synonymous with it.

The Department is furnished with equipment of excellent quality. Students are provided with instruments and materials from the best brands commercially-available to help them learn with the very best.

TEACHING PROGRAMMES: –

Undergraduate teaching programme:

Undergraduates are trained for two years (through the 3^rd and 4^th years of their BDS degrees) with basic pre-clinical and clinical work. They are concurrently trained bytheir mentors in the nuances of the clinical aspects of Orthodontic science,using case scenarios of patients.

Postgraduate teaching programme:

The postgraduate course in the Department of Orthodontics was started in the year 1992-93, with a current intake of 6 students per year. The MDS course trains students to efficiently and effectively diagnose malocclusion, formulate treatment plans and deliver the best possible treatment.Furthermore, students are coached in the methods of delivering effective lectures using the latest teaching methodology to foster and encourageacademic interest in them.
