Endo Profile

The Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics can be divided into 4 sections, based on the type of treatment done:

  • Conservative dentistry
  • Endodontics
  • Aesthetic dentistry
  • Micro-endodontics

 

  • Conservative dentistry deals with the study, diagnosis and integrated management of diseases of teeth.
  • Endodontics deals with diseases and injuries of enamel, dentine and the dental pulp (involves root canal treatment and post and core treatment whenever required).
  • Esthetic dentistry is a branch of Conservative dentistry which deals with the correction of dental anomalies like spacing between teeth, malformed teeth (smile designing) anddiscoloration of teeth (bleaching) which leads to enhanced self-confidence of the patient and improved social confidence, as well.
  • Micro-dentistry is the most advanced branch of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics which involves the use of a microscope to study the intricate structures of teeth. This helps to improve diagnosis and treatment planning, leading to successful outcome of treatment procedures.

Undergraduate teaching programme:

  • Dental Materials (1stand 2nd BDS)
  • Preclinical Operative Dentistry (1stand 2nd BDS)
  • Clinical training in Operative Dentistry (3rdBDS)
  • Theoretical and Clinical training in Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry (4thBDS)
  • Clinical training in Operative Dentistry, Endodontics and Aesthetic Dentistry (Clinical Rotary Internship)

Post graduate teaching programme:

The post-graduate course in the Department of Conservative dentistry and Endodontics was started in the year 2000-01.

PG intake being 5 candidates per year and PG Diploma candidates being 2 per year.
